6th Week Milestone
Last night Adam slept from 9pm till 3am. That's six hours which I think is considered sleeping through the night. I know that since I am writing about it, I have completely jinxed myself and it won't happen again for a very long time. But, maybe because I said I jinxed myself I really didn't?? Up until a few days ago, Adam was feeding every 3 hours and would now and then go 4 hours at night between feedings. Then, on Sunday night he did two 4 hour stretches and I thought that was great. Then, on Monday night he did a five hour stretch. Last night, it was a 6 hour stretch. When he finally got up at 3am I was so proud of him, but I kind of missed him. I held him a little longer than I normally do before putting him back to bed and then when he fussed a little I did something I normally never do.... I picked him back up and held and rocked him some more. I could really get used to waking up only once a night!!

Yucky Messes
Some days I feel like all I do is clean up messes (especially the pee and poop kind) and yes, I realize I have written two posts about poop. It is a rare morning where Owen does not wake up to a wet bed which I must then strip and clean. He wears special night diapers and still manages to leak out of them almost every night. This morning he woke up dry, however Adam woke up soaked. Then, right before we left for the library I went to change Adam's wet diaper. In the middle of changing him (and I like to think I am pretty quick) he pooped ALL OVER THE PLACE. I think this one tops the records. I was in shock and all I could do was laugh. It was such a sight that I ran down to get the camera and took a picture. I don't think the carpet will ever be the same.

Weekend Recap
1. Friday I cleaned out and rearranged my kitchen cabinets. I try to pick a project to complete every day. I hope that one day I will feel like all my cleaning projects are complete and I can sit down and read a book while the boys nap. I don't see that happening for a while though.
2. Friday night we ate turkey pot pie that I made all by myself! It took me half a day to make it and I kept asking myself what on earth possessed me to make this much work for myself (for food), but it was worth it! Both pies were gone by Saturday night. I was very proud of myself seeing how I have never cooked/boiled/baked a bird before. I have to admit that I contemplated becoming a vegetarian for a moment when I had to wash the poor turkey and pull out its neck. It was gross. Here's what the end result looked like...
3. Saturday I ran errands in the morning while Mike had the boys. Then I got to take a nice afternoon nap while the boys both napped.
4. Saturday night Mike and I watched "The Pursuit of Happiness" with Will Smith. It was a really good movie, but very sad.
5. Sunday morning I took Owen and Adam in to see Ollie along with my parents. This was Adam's first time meeting his great grandmother. Ollie was so happy and wide awake almost the entire time. Owen kept giving her hugs and she would smile. Then, he'd make a silly face at her and she'd laugh and laugh at him. The other residents love him too. As we were leaving he gave a man a high five. He has a way of brightening everyone's day.

6. Sunday, before nap time, Owen and Daddy washed their bikes. Owen told me last night that daddy is his best friend. They spend hours together outside on the weekends. Owen just follows Mike around and helps him with whatever he is doing in the yard. Here's a picture I took of them washing their bikes through our screened in porch.

Adam's Many Faces

I took a video of Adam making a bunch of faces tonight. For some reason, my camera sometimes distorts facial features when I try to get pictures or video up close. Sometimes his nose looks really big. The quality of the video is not that great either. I really must take the time to read through the manual for my camera. Blogger would not let me download the video ( I guess it is too long?), so I had to download it to You Tube. I am still trying to figure out how to post a You Tube video onto my blog. For now, CLICK HERE to view the video.

Feeding Elmo
Owen has not napped for the past three days. Ending his afternoon nap is one of my worst fears (just kidding, it is far from it, but something I really don't want to see come to an end). Part of the problem is that he has eight stuffed animals in bed with him and he plays with them rather than sleeping. I've tried to take some out, but he insists they be in his bed. I already told him that tomorrow he may choose one "buddy" to be in his bed during his nap.
So anyway... I went to check on him this afternoon and he was sitting up in his bed with one side of his shirt up pretending to breastfeed Elmo. When I asked him what he was doing he said, "I feedin' Elmo, he hungwee." I did not know what to say. Maybe I should have explained that it is just something that a mommy can do with her baby, but I was speechless, so I ignored it. I left his room laughing and then called Mike right away to tell him.
I thought I better write this one down for some laughs later down the road!

A "Poopy" Day
We decided to take Adam to church for the first time this morning. He was fed, cleaned up, and dressed in one of my favorite outfits that Owen wore when he was a baby. We thought it would be easier to take Owen to my parent's house and just take Adam for the first time and next time we'd take both boys. We got to church, found a seat in the back and Adam was in his car seat. He is usually really good about just hanging out in his seat, but he started to seem a little unsettled so I picked him up. That's when I noticed he was COVERED in poop. It was his worst blow out yet. I had it all over my hands, arms, and pants. His car seat was also covered in poop. I was going to try to clean him in the bathroom and put on a change of clothes, but it was way beyond that. We had no choice, but to leave and bring him home. He needed a bath and his carseat had to be cleaned out. We were at church for literally one minute and then had to leave. Maybe we'll make it through the entire service next time!

Milestone :)
Yesterday, Adam turned 5 weeks old, however he reached a MAJOR milestone in his 4th week..... he now SMILES! And it melts my heart. A couple days ago he was in an exceptionally good mood and would smile at me whenever I talked to him. He smiled before 4 weeks, but it was with his eyes closed when he was really content. I hope to capture it on camera today so check back for evidence. :)

Rollerskating!

The highschool and middle school afterschool program took the students rollerskating today, and since Mike works for the program, we were able to go along. This was Owen's first time rollerskating. At first he was very apprehensive so we told him he could just "watch". I was shocked that he wanted to put skates on after just a few minutes of being there. He LOVED it!! Mike's back might be very sore tomorrow from holding Owen up. I had such a good time watching everyone try to skate. I think some people spent more time on the floor than actually skating. It was hilarious!
Here's a short video that I took. The quality is not that great. See if you can find Owen and Mike.
Oh, and if you wonder where Adam was during all this... he was sleeping in the front pack that I was wearing. The loud music and whistle blowing didn't bother him. He is such a good baby and so easy going!

Our Week So Far...
This week is flying by! I am still adjusting to the time change, but the day seems to be over before I know it!
Monday we had a playdate with my friend, Jill, and her son, Cohen. "Cogan" as Owen calls him, is two months younger than Owen and equally as interested in trains. Tuesday I took Owen to the library for story time. Ms. Cindy read books from Ireland and they made a cute rainbow craft for St. Patty's day. Today, Owen went to Linda's house where they celebrated St. Patrick's Day. Adam and I spent the day running errands and getting things done. Hopefully we are able to spend more time outside tomorrow! Here's a picture of Owen and his friends from Linda's in their St. Patty's Day crowns.

Most nights this is how you will find Adam.
He loves sleeping on Mike's chest. Tonight he was so content that he was smiling and I caught it on camera.
Poor guy has pink eye in his right eye. I just hope he does not catch Owen's cold!

Do They Look Alike?
Everyone keeps asking if we think Owen and Adam look alike. They have some similarities, like their noses, and some differences, like their hair and eyelashes. When Owen was born he had tons of dark hair and eventually around 3 months or so it fell out on top of his head and turned a little lighter in color. Adam was born with blond hair and barely any eye lashes or eye brows. Last week, Mike put baby oil on his head and then all his hair fell out on top. I don't think it had anything to do with the oil though. Now, poor Adam, looks like a little old man. A very cute little old man. Here is Adam at 1 month.
Here is Owen at 1 month. What do you think??

Happy 1 Month Birthday Adam!
Adam,
I can't believe you are already one month old. One month ago tonight we were holding you for the very first time. The time has gone by way too fast!
Here's what you are up to:
- You still sleep a lot, but when you are awake you are becoming more and more alert. You love looking at lights and picture frames. You also like watching your big brother.
- You are beginning to reach for things. The other night daddy said you tried to reach for a pen he was holding. Yesterday you tried to reach for the little red cardinal on your Baby Einstein play mat.
- When you are awake you like to be held so you spend a lot of time in the front carrier.
- You have been many places so far- the park, shopping, out to lunch, Kohl's, Lowe's, and market.

I can't wait to see all the new things you do in your second month!
Love,
Mommy

Adam's Playdate
Adam's friend, James, came over to play today. He is six weeks older than Adam and such a good baby. James' sweet mommy and I taught next to each other this year. She brought a gift for Adam and Owen and delicious tortilla soup. The weather was so nice that we were able to take the boys for a walk. We look forward to many more playdates. Hopefully they won't sleep the entire time next time!

Enjoying the Weather
We have been enjoying the beautiful weather and spent a lot of time playing outside the past couple days. Yesterday I took both boys to the park. All the snow had melted from the playground so Owen was able to run, climb, slide, swing, and play for a while. It was my first time out with both boys and it went really well. Today, I took them to the library. We did not stay for all of story time because I was nervous that Adam would be ready to eat. Owen was able to get some new books and Adam slept the entire time. Next week we plan on staying for the entire story time and craft. Adam will be 4 weeks by then so he will be off "house arrest" and I will feel better about taking him out in public.

Adam's First Bottle
Tonight daddy and Owen gave Adam his first bottle. He was a little hesitant at first, but then gulped down 5 ounces. I think he would have taken even more, but we cut him off. As long as pumping (which I really hate) does not mess up the supply/demand thing we have going on, we will continue to do a bottle every other day or so. This morning I had to take Adam to the doctor for a mark/rash I noticed on his belly. Dr. Schaffer is not really sure exactly what it is or what it is from so we are just going to watch it to see if it gets worse. He said he is not in any pain from it which is what matters most. They weighed him and he is 9lbs 7 ounces!! He gained almost 1 pound in 8 days!
