Playing in the Snow

We woke up Saturday to a pretty dusting of snow!  Owen couldn't wait to go outside to play.  He was so happy to have daddy home to play hockey with him.  They were outside all morning.

Unfortunately Adam was napping all morning so he did not get to enjoy the snow.  I'm sure he'll get to play in it soon enough!  They are calling for more snow this week :)

A Very Loooooong Week

This has been one of the longest weeks ever!  Mike was away for work since Tuesday morning and I was home, alone, with the boys all week.
He has not been away this long since before Owen was born.  Two nights I can handle, but three is just too long!
Thankfully he is home now.  We really missed him!!  Tomorrow night we are taking the boys to Sesame Street Live and I can't wait.  Adam really likes Sesame Street so I think he's going to love the show!

In order to help the day not drag on, I decided to take the boys to the Hands On House today.  We got a little lost on our way there, but we had a nice time.  I think next time I will take Owen or have Mike take him without Adam.  I felt badly for Owen because he really wanted me to play with him, but I had to chase after Adam too.  I did manage to take some pictures from our trip.

Owen liked building and racing cars

Adam liked it too!

The pacifier helped to keep Adam from putting everything in his mouth.
Playing with the farm animals

One of Owen's favorite things was the egg sorter.  Adam liked it too!

Grocery shopping

Working the cash register

Owen and I decorated the snowman to the left.
This evening my mom came over and helped me finish Owen's cape.  I did most of it myself, but I needed her to help with the neck.

That's all I have. Enjoy your weekend!

Adam Walking

I did not realize how high-pitched and annoying my voice was until I listened to myself on this video.  You might want to turn down your volume!

Way Back Wednesday

Kate recently came across some pictures she took at Owen's third birthday party last April, but forgot to send to me.  I thought I'd post some of them.  We opted for a low key family birthday party since Adam had just been born.  I can't believe Owen will be 4 in less than three months!
Kate holding Adam.  Seeing him this tiny makes me miss the sleepy newborn stage soooooo much!

I love that the weather was nice enough to have his party on our deck.  Not sure why Jesse is raising his hand... probably for a piece of cake.  Seeing this picture of me reminds me of one of the only reasons I do not like nursing!!

Owen was so happy to turn 3!

Self Control

Tonight I gave both boys a bath at the same time.  Usually it takes Mike and I to give them a bath because Adam is an absolute maniac in the bathtub, but Mike was not home.  When I have to give them a bath by myself I usually have Owen get in first and wash him while Adam stands outside excitedly waiting for his turn to get in the tub.  Once Owen is all washed, I put Adam in the bathtub.  I can't take my hands off him for a second.  In a matter of 1 minute, he sits up, splashes, flops onto his belly, puts his entire face in the water, kicks and splashes some more, sits back up, splashes some more, tries to stand up, flops back onto his belly, kicks and splashes, swallows more water, chokes, coughs it up, laughs, sits back up... you get the picture.  Tonight I was keeping one hand on his back and the other under his chin to try and keep him from drinking so much water and/or hitting his head.  For a moment I was a little concerned because it looked like he was having a seizure, but really he is just that excited to be in the bathtub!  I've tried distracting him with toys, but it does not work.  I wish I could video tape it, but I don't have any free hands and I don't like putting naked videos of my boys on the Internet either, so hopefully I was able to paint a picture in your head.  Thankfully bed time follows bath time because I am EXHAUSTED afterwards.  This boy is in need of some serious swim lessons and pool time.  I already have him signed up for lessons in the spring.  Tonight while Adam was going crazy in the water, Owen said, "Mommy, he is not showing self control.  Santa is not going to give him any presents."  Then he turns to Adam and reminds him that Santa is watching.  I think we may have gone a little overboard on the "being good for Santa" thing.  Note to self for next year... choose something else for leverage during the Christmas season... poor kid is going to need some major therapy.

I don't have anything exciting to write about today.  We didn't do any neat crafts or activities, go anywhere fun, or have any play dates.   However, I want to remember to write down the small, but silly, things my boys do and say.  Sometimes it is those little memories that are the most fun to read about many years from now!

Back In the Swing of Things

Today was Mike's first day back at work.  As much as he didn't want to go back, he admitted that he was ready to go back at the same time.  He will also admit that he does not do well when he gets out of his daily routine for too long.  Staying home with two high-energy boys is not as easy as it may seem!  I would bet that going to work some days is easier, although maybe not as enjoyable :)

Today I took the boys to Paramount Sports Complex so they could play in the preschool gym.  They have bars, rings, lots of fun squishy mats, a pit full of colorful plastic balls, a trampoline, balance beam, and so much more.  We got there a little early so we had some time to ourselves before more kids showed up.  Owen had a great time and did not want to leave!  Adam was a little hesitant at first and just wanted me to hold him while he watched Owen play.  After a while though he was off my lap playing in the ball pit, crawling, and walking everywhere, although he liked me to be close by.  He even tried to take another little girl's paci out of her mouth!  The best part of going to Paramount is it wears my boys out and they take nice, long afternoon naps.  The worst part is... waiting to see what yucky germs they pick up.  I must have said, "No mouth" a zillion times to Adam.  He was putting everything in his mouth.  I don't think I'd be that concerned about germs if it weren't for the scary fever Adam had a few weeks ago.

Here are some pictures I took from today...

A Look Back at 2010

2010 was a really good year.  It is going to take a lot to top it!  Here's a look back at our most memorable moments of 2010...

Here I am last January at 37 1/2 weeks pregnant!
Last winter we had some major snowstorms.  Two of those snowstorms occurred the week Adam was born.
The best part of 2010 was welcoming this little guy to our family on February 12th :)
Owen received one of the best gifts... a sibling.
We took a trip to the beach over Easter break.  Adam was only 2 months old.

In celebration of our 30th birthdays we took a trip to Deep Creek Lake over the 4th of July.
We had such a nice time with KT, Joel, MB, and Aziz!

July 9th Mike and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary.

We took another trip to the beach in July.  Owen had a blast playing on the beach and in the ocean.

We took a trip to see Aunt Beth and Eric in Baltimore

Mike, myself, Aunt Judy and Maddie went to see Jimmy Buffet.  Definitely a memorable event in 2010!

Mike got a new job as an assistant principal in an elementary school.

We took Owen to quite a few shows in 2010 including the Wiggles, Toystory on Ice, and the circus!
In September I ran my first half marathon.
Lastly, we celebrated our first Christmas as a family of 4.
Happy New Year!
