Lately...

I've fallen behind in my blogging.  Again.  I'll back up to Easter weekend.  Last time I blogged I showed pictures of the boys dressed up for Easter.  Well, Easter Sunday we had our family over for Easter dinner.  We also celebrated Owen's birthday since it was a few days before Easter.  He requested a carrot cake made my Kreiser Kreations.  I think our family keeps her in business.  She makes the BEST cakes and cupcakes.
I snapped this picture over Easter break of Owen coloring on the deck with Chong.
We've been doing a lot of fishing around here lately.  The boys love it!
We've also been reading.  I wrote on Instagram a few weeks ago that Owen has started reading on his own (without me making him) and really enjoying it.  He loves books about famous athletes.  On this particular night he was up reading way past his bedtime, but I wasn't complaining!
Both boys had separate birthday parties to go to last weekend.  Adam was so excited to go to Lauren's birthday party.  He talks about her all the time.  I think this picture sums up how he feels about her...
At the party the kids wanted to do the hurricane machine.  Adam was stuck in there with 7 girls.  Cracked me up!

Last weekend the boys started the Healthy Kids Running Series.  It's a great program and they both really enjoy it.  Adam runs the 50 yard dash and Owen runs the half mile.
This weekend was beautiful.  I was supposed to go with Mike to his race, however Thursday night Owen got hit in the mouth with a baseball at practice.  I'll probably blog about it just so I have it written down for him to read later in life, but that's a whole different blog post.  So I ended up staying home and thankfully Owen was doing better and we had a really nice, relaxing weekend.

We took Cal to Patches for the first time and he had his first bite of ice cream.
Adam enjoyed his ice cream too.  Such a goofball.
We fed some goats.

Then Owen made a sign for Mike to congratulate him on his race.  He got 11th out of over 1,000 runners.  Pretty amazing!
Owen got 2nd place last week at his running series.  A third grade girl from his school beat him (she's VERY fast) and he really wanted to beat her this week.  Mike used the same safety pins to attach Owen's racing bib that he used in his Hyner race and Owen got 1st place this week.  Now we keep those safety pins in a special spot to use each week during his race.

After Thursday's baseball accident I am really encouraging this running thing.  No bats, balls, concussions...

Saturday night our neighbors had a little get together with fishing and a campfire.  It was so much fun.
Both boys caught a fish and since Adam's fish swallowed the hook we couldn't toss it back.  Mr. Freer showed the kids how to gut the fish and Mike ate the fish for breakfast today.
Such a great weekend!

Easter

Our Easter weekend in pictures...
The other day while we were playing in the yard I noticed some flowers have started to bloom.  These were planted by my grandparents years ago.

I love little reminders like this that they are still with us :)

We dyed Easter eggs today.

I couldn't find a spring wreath that I liked so I decided to try to make one myself- thanks to Pinterest.

I remember always stopping over to visit Ollie and Papa Doc on Easter Sunday so they could see us in our Easter dresses.  We'd get our pictures taken on this stone wall.  Ollie loved seeing us all dressed up.
We love spending time with our family at Springhaven Woods.
Louisa is such a doll!
We tried getting a picture with all the cousins, but even though I took almost 100 pictures, there's not one where they are all looking semi-happy and looking at the camera.  So they are all out-takes, but they crack me up!  I think we'll appreciate these even more in about 10 years.

Love this picture of O and sweet Wynne
Missing Bea

Egg hunt!

I'm so thankful for special traditions and fun times spent with family.  We missed Fletcher, Jesse, and Anna and can't wait until Christmas when they are home!
