I snapped this picture over Easter break of Owen coloring on the deck with Chong.
We've been doing a lot of fishing around here lately. The boys love it!
We've also been reading. I wrote on Instagram a few weeks ago that Owen has started reading on his own (without me making him) and really enjoying it. He loves books about famous athletes. On this particular night he was up reading way past his bedtime, but I wasn't complaining!
Both boys had separate birthday parties to go to last weekend. Adam was so excited to go to Lauren's birthday party. He talks about her all the time. I think this picture sums up how he feels about her...
At the party the kids wanted to do the hurricane machine. Adam was stuck in there with 7 girls. Cracked me up!
Last weekend the boys started the Healthy Kids Running Series. It's a great program and they both really enjoy it. Adam runs the 50 yard dash and Owen runs the half mile.
This weekend was beautiful. I was supposed to go with Mike to his race, however Thursday night Owen got hit in the mouth with a baseball at practice. I'll probably blog about it just so I have it written down for him to read later in life, but that's a whole different blog post. So I ended up staying home and thankfully Owen was doing better and we had a really nice, relaxing weekend.
We took Cal to Patches for the first time and he had his first bite of ice cream.
Adam enjoyed his ice cream too. Such a goofball.
Then Owen made a sign for Mike to congratulate him on his race. He got 11th out of over 1,000 runners. Pretty amazing!
Owen got 2nd place last week at his running series. A third grade girl from his school beat him (she's VERY fast) and he really wanted to beat her this week. Mike used the same safety pins to attach Owen's racing bib that he used in his Hyner race and Owen got 1st place this week. Now we keep those safety pins in a special spot to use each week during his race.
After Thursday's baseball accident I am really encouraging this running thing. No bats, balls, concussions...
Saturday night our neighbors had a little get together with fishing and a campfire. It was so much fun.
Both boys caught a fish and since Adam's fish swallowed the hook we couldn't toss it back. Mr. Freer showed the kids how to gut the fish and Mike ate the fish for breakfast today.
