Adam's Birthday Party

It feels so good to sit down and relax.  This week has been fun, but busy.  We celebrated Adam's "for real" birthday on Tuesday, then we celebrated Valentines Day on Thursday, and today we had a little luncheon for my cousin's baby shower, and Adam's birthday party this afternoon.

Let's start with the day before Adam's birthday.  He took a treat to daycare since he wouldn't be there on Tuesday for his real birthday.  I made rice krispy treats.  He loves them and they're easy.  They made him a crown to wear at daycare and he had such a great day.  I know he felt special.

Tuesday morning, I had a balloon, card, and another crown waiting for the birthday boy.  He got to choose whatever he wanted for breakfast (pancakes, surprise surprise).  Then it was off to Finney and Papa's for the day.  That night Adam chose to go to Friendly's for his birthday dinner.
They put a candle in his icecream and all the workers sang to him.  It was funny!

When we got home he got to open his presents from Mike and I.  He got a bike helmet from Mike and I got him a Thomas the Train remote control toy that he was eyeing up during our trip to Wal Mart.  It was really hard for me to think of something to get him.  Christmas was less than two months ago, we have more than enough toys, and there's just nothing he needs right now.  He seemed perfectly happy which is all that matters.

Today we celebrated his birthday with a Snowman themed birthday party.  I have to admit I felt a little guilty only doing a family birthday party since Owen has been having a friend birthday party since he turned two.

However, when I asked Adam who he wanted to come to his party he named all family.  I didn't want him to feel short changed so I did a little more than I normally would for a family party.

At first he wanted a Cars theme, but I found some really cute things on Pinterest for a snowman party and he loves snowmen.  When I asked him if he wanted a snowman party instead he was all for it!  Thank goodness for Pinterest because I am not creative and would have never thought of these things on my own.

Finney made three round cakes for me and I made it into a snowman (thanks to a few pictures on Pinterest).  Cake decorating is no piece of cake!
Owen helped make the favors- Hershey bars made into snowmen
Beatrice was such a trooper being passed around from person to person all night long.  She was teething and not feeling well, but you would have never known.
Eric and Beth finally got to meet Beatrice :)
We know our house is pretty small, but we don't really realize just how small it is until we try to get everyone in one room.

I accidentally bought trick candles...

So thankful to Finney for making most of the food for our party!!!
 Yum!
 Dance party time...
Such a cutie!!
X Box Time...
After everyone left the boys enjoyed some more play time with Beth and Eric, but poor Eric was worn out!  I don't blame him!
Adam had a wonderful 3rd birthday!

Adam Turns 3!

I'll write more about Adam's birthday after his little party this weekend, but for now... here's a video of the staff at Friendly's singing to him.

X box

Mike and I have been talking about getting the boys an X Box for a while.  We aren't fans of buying them a hand-held video game player.  We figure they have more than enough technology at home, they don't need anything else, but somehow we justified our need for an X Box.

I played the X Box Kinect at a birthday party a few weeks ago and loved it!  I've heard about how cool it is and after much contemplation we (including Lala and Papa Steve) finally got the boys one for Valentine's Day/Adam's birthday.  I was skeptical at first because when I asked Owen if he'd like one he said "Nah."  However, that's pretty much his answer to anything new.

Next to our pellet stove this is probably one of our best purchases.  Lately the boys seem to spend most of their time running sprinting around the house over and over and wrestling and tackling each other.  Until the weather improves and we can spend most of our time outside, we have our XBox.  We played it for a good 3 hours Saturday night.  Then again before church on Sunday.  Then again Sunday afternoon and again today after school. I love it.
It's definitely a family fun game that even Adam can enjoy. We only have a few games, but Owen's favorite is the white water rafting game.  You are in a raft traveling down a river and you have to collect as many tokens as possible.  The higher and faster you jump the higher up the raft will go.  You steer the boat by moving from side to side.  You can reach your arms out to collect tokens.  It's incredible.
Owen's focus face
When Owen was scratching his back, the character on the TV was scratching his back.... that's just crazy!  When I was Owen's age we had an Atari and I thought that was awesome.
Mike is enjoying the Nike Kinect Trainer
And after all that jumping, moving, sliding, walking, running, movement... the boys were worn out!

Thank you X Box Kinect.

Book #4

It's hard to believe it's time to order our 4th blog book.  Four full years of memories.  Each year our book seems to get thicker...I'm not sure if that will be the case this time.  I don't feel like I have blogged quite as often as last year, but I'm fine with that.

This blog is 99% for our boys.  Seeing them get a blog book out and look through it makes the time I put into writing on here completely worth it!

It's so much fun to look back on posts from when they were both really little, although it makes me a bit sad too at how fast they've grown up.  Some days I'd do anything to go back to the infant stage.  Other days I am thankful for the stage we are in because we can do so much more with the boys.  I'm not sure how long I'll keep up with this little ol' blog, but for now it's a great way to record the special and ordinary moments we share together.
