Lately

Monday we went to the pool for the first time (well Owen had been there twice before with Mike).  It's a nice pool, but I still miss our old one.  The boys love it and they have friends there to play with... that's what matters.  We also went to the pool today.  I planned to leave around 1:45pm so the boys could get home to nap, but we were having so much fun that I lost track of time.  We ended up staying until 2:50.  I think that's a record for us.
Look at that belly!!!  Poor guy fell and scraped both knees and his toe.
Owen playing in the baby pool (which is pretty deep at the one end).
On Tuesday my mom and I took the boys to see The Smurfs.  Our local theater offers free movies in the morning all summer long!  This was Adam's first time in a movie theater and he did better than I thought he would.
Part way through the movie, I took Adam to Club Kid so he could play while Lala and Owen watched the rest of the movie.
Adam is a big fan of the play kitchen and play food.  I think he needs one :)
Tuesday night we made English muffin pizzas for dinner.  Remember those from home-ec class?  We've been having a hard time finding things that Adam likes to eat.  Getting him to brach out and try new foods is pretty much impossible right now.  I know by the looks of his belly he definitely isn't starving so I'm not too worried.  I thought by having him make his own dinner he would be more willing to eat it since it was something new.
The boys were SOOOOO excited to make their own pizzas.
Adding the cheese.
Watching them bake in the oven.
Unfortunately, it didn't work.  Adam still refused to try them.  Sigh.

Other than that, we've been building train tracks, playing with trains, magnets, and cars.

And one of Adam's favorite things right now.... Play Doh.
Tomorrow I am headed to the beach to meet up with Mike (who is already there) for a wedding.  We'll be home Sunday.  The boys can't wait for Aunt Beth and Eric to get here since they will be staying with them while we're away.  All I can think about is sitting in my beach chair for a few hours without getting up once, watching the ocean, reading my book, and maybe even falling asleep on the beach :)

Avalon (part 3)

I think this is my last post about Avalon, although I have a couple cute videos to post.  Here are some pictures I took with my iphone...

Since we went during the "off season" it was really empty.  We enjoyed no lines or waits for groceries, restaurants, and the beach was pretty empty too.

Adam liked when Marybeth read him books.

Naptime was my favorite time :)  It gave me a couple hours to sit and chill and talk.

Mike made the boys masks on a rainy day. Poor Elsa was scared to death of Owen's mask and cried anytime he came near her.

Ice cream in Stone Harbor
Owen didn't nap everyday, but some days he was just too worn out he couldn't stay awake.

Adam was sad because he wanted to stand in the hole.

All better.  He got his way.

This was our favorite place to eat in Stone Harbor- Fred's Tavern.  In fact, we ate there twice!  Can you see Mike?

We visited many different playgrounds while on vacation.

We played this game a few times once the kids were all asleep.  Definitely one of the funniest games I've ever played.  There were times we were laughing so hard we were crying and/or ready to wet our pants.  If you don't have this game, I suggest you go buy it now and then have some friend's over to play it.  HILARIOUS!!!
Who needs a double stroller?
I guess that about sums up our trip in pictures.  We had such a wonderful time.

Avalon (part 2)

We just got home from our week long trip to the beach.  The car is unloaded, but there's stuff all over my house.  It took me a week to pack so I'm giving myself a week to unpack:)

It feels a little strange, but good, to be home after being gone for a week.  Owen told me that it feels silly.  Usually, whenever we go away, I am ready to go home after one or two nights.  This trip was definitely different.  We had such a great time that a part of me hated to leave.  I loved watching the boys experience new things in a new place.  I could sit for hours and watch them play on the beach and in the waves.  We enjoyed going for long walks in the morning, trying out different playgrounds, going for ice cream, and even going out to eat.  Eating out is starting to be a little bit enjoyable now that Adam is getting older.  He still has his moments of extreme whining and fussiness, but he's starting to communicate and act like a preschooler compared to a toddler.  I found myself thinking, "This is the greatest" many times while on our trip.  Avalon is, by far, our favorite beach spot (that we can get to without flying), and hope to make it a yearly tradition.

Both boys were super excited to go to the beach.  This was taken the morning we left for Avalon.
We LOVED being able to fit so much in the mini-van.

This is where we stayed.  It was really nice.
The pool.
This was the view from our deck.  We were three houses down from the beach and could hear the waves from inside our house if the sliding doors were opened.  There were a lot of enormous, beautiful houses, and some cute little ones too.  But almost every house had amazing landscaping.
We had the best time with MB and her family and Katie and Joel.
The boys absolutely adored the twins and are already missing them so much.

I had to laugh because in many of the pictures that I took of Owen, both his feet are off the ground.

Owen found a "friend" on the beach.

I loved watching Adam and Mike in the ocean.  The water was, surprisingly, not that cold!
You can see Adam making his "vrooom" truck sound.
The babies LOVED to eat the sand.
And E would laugh when her mommy told her to stop.

There were lots of dance parties going on on our last night in Avalon.
We discovered the best way to keep the kids occupied was give them some spoons, pots, and lids and turn on the music.

Loved, loved, loved spending the week and catching up with MB and Katie.

Captain Owen

We drank out of red Solo cups since there were so many of us and we didn't want to make a ton of dirty dishes.  We also played the song, "Red Solo Cup" a lot so Owen had his picture taken with the infamous red Solo cup.
Lots of great memories, reminiscing,  and tons of laughs.
More pictures to come... I still have to download all the pictures I took with my iphone.
